This quality art print was created from my original acrylic painting. The 8"x10" print is mated and ready for framing. The painting was inspired by a memory from my childhood.
The story: Once upon a time on a cool day with bright sunshine my sister, Anna and I have decided to restore dignity to fallen stumps. We were walking along the edge of the island in the marsh and a uprighting every fallen stump we came across. We came to the spot where the woods opened up and we turned inland, walking in tall grasses. The trees around us began to scream. They grabbed up the wind and threw it around in their branches. Anna and I listened but we did not heed the trees warning, and we continued on. It was too warm to be walking in the tall, wet grass. I could feel the sun on the back of my neck and the water coming in through my shoes. The trees continued to scream with more urgency now..I put my hand on my dog, Lizzie, preparing to turn us around. and that is when the alligator leapt and flung water into the air, hissing and splashing to declare itself. We ran! We ran all the way along the marsh and past King Newground dock, and all the way back to the goat cabin. ”We should have listened to the trees!” we said to each other again and again trying to catch the breath we lost to fear and running. All the rest of my sister’s life, we would say this to each other as a warning, to be mindful, to pay attention. “Listen to the trees.”
